Article 41: Game On!
Before your feet ever hit the floor in the morning I can guarantee you that your mind has already started working on the game plan for the day. From brushing your teeth, route you will take to work, tasks to accomplish during the day as well as the evening activities. Now you may be saying that the above is not you because your doing good just to get your feet to the floor before the snooze alarm goes off one more time but I’m here to tell you how things really play out.
You see the mind is one of the most incredible tools we were ever given. Between the subconscious and conscious we are constantly, mentally, moving in one direction or another. True, it may be hard to accept that all of those above things are going on from the first moment we open up our eyes but rest assured our mind knows that it has to be at least 10 steps ahead of our physical body for us to be able to accomplish anything, timely. If our mind waited for the body to be ready to do the next activity no one would ever be able to make it to work on time. The main reason the subconscious mind is able to start orchestrating the day way before it actually happens is because we had the entire day before to think about what was coming up.
Now most of us didn’t write down all of the tasks we knew needed to happen the following day or week but in the back of our mind we already planted those seeds. So is it that hard to believe that most of our day has already been routed prior to us leaving our house? Now I’m not saying that every step or circumstance is already predestined because that would be irresponsible. What I am saying is that from the time we set our head on the pillow at night we have already given our mind a set of marching orders for possible upcoming scenarios for the following day. So in essence when we wake up we have already put in motion possible outcomes for many of the events we believe are going to take place.
I say all of the above so that a foundation can be laid regarding how we can get a victorious mental game and leave the grasshopper mentality behind. The grasshopper mentality is one that looks at upcoming situations and says, “We are not good enough”, “The competition is so much better”, “What if I stumble during my presentation”, etc. I could go on and on but you know the negative inner dialogue you have with yourself. However, the victorious mind looks at circumstances from a different perspective. It is not cocky but confident, “I can overcome all obstacles”, “My preparation will not fail me”, “People like me” or “I’m a winner”.
Winners understand competition and negative circumstances but they never let those thoughts dominate their thinking. They know how to properly frame each situation and look for the best possible outcome no matter what the circumstances look like. They fill their minds with inspirational thoughts; their eyes are focused only on the things which will make them stronger. They keep their internal spirit poised and ready to sprint forward by filling it with positive messages and victorious strategies. Winners know that if, daily, they properly prepare their Mind, Body and Soul then when they go to bed at night all of the pieces will work together and create a plan for success for the next morning. We all have the same 24 hours. What you do with it is up to you. The thoughts you choose to believe and what you allow into your life determine your future. Start you day off right by creating an environment of success the night before!
